The Old Woman

The old woman sits across,
Waiting for someone I guess,
Me, I have just ordered a cup of coffee,
I keep observing her.

She's dressed in a informal way,
Her jewellery way to flashy, mismatched,
Her hair should have been white,
But appears black. Definitely dyed.

She keeps looking at her watch,
I look at myself,
I look like a younger version of her.
I wonder if, someone is observing,
And speculating about me as well.
I look around. No. At least not today.

  4. Nice compilation.Whenever we look at an oldie, the first thought that comes into the mind is how we would look at that age. Working of human mind is nicely depicted.

  5. a very short and immensely sensible post Fizaah. Whe all have this tendency to speculate things we see around ourselves.I dont know why I am reminded of few beautiful lines I read somewhere lately..would like to share that with you
“Anybody can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl. An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A good artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl that she used to be".

  8. A very subtle and imaginative poem that seeks to capture the stage of life static and grey far ahead of the present state of exuberance. The depth of philosophy marks the poem as being unusual.
